Irvine Sensors Contract: Irvine Sensors Corp. of Costa Mesa said it has been awarded a $600,000 Army contract to design circuitry for a new generation of high-resolution sensors.
The sensor would be able to “see” targets across a broad color spectrum, ranging from ultraviolet through the palette visible to humans and into the infrared frequencies.
An example of such a target could be a ballistic missile warhead surrounded by maneuverable decoys and flares designed to blind conventional infrared sensors.
The technology also has commercial applications in high-speed manipulation of high-resolution images, including High Definition Television.
Irvine Sensors’ common stock rose 75 cents to close at $6.50 a share on Nasdaq Monday.
