COLLEGE ROUNDUP : San Diego Defeats No. 8 Titans in Overtime

David Beall scored seven minutes into the second overtime period to lead San Diego to a 2-1 victory over eighth-ranked Cal State Fullerton Wednesday night in a nonconference men’s soccer game at Titan Stadium.
Eddie Soto scored on Tom Helmer’s assist in the 35th minute for the Titans (7-2), but Toby Taitano scored eight minutes later to tie the score, 1-1, at halftime for San Diego (7-2).
In another nonconference game:
UC Irvine 7, Loyola Marymount 1--P.J. Polowski scored three goals for his second hat trick this season, and Manny Hernandez added two for the host Anteaters (4-5). Polowski has eight goals this season. Ken Gunn set the school’s single-season record of 13 goals in 1984.
In nonconference women’s soccer:
UC Irvine 2, Loyola Marymount 0--Claudia Ruggiero and Jaycee Leitner scored second-half goals to lead Irvine to its fifth consecutive victory. Irvine is 7-2, its best start in the school’s 10-year history of women’s soccer.
Irvine goalie Amee Chapman had five saves and improved her scoreless streak to 270 minutes.
Biola 4, Southern California College 0--Michelle Nissen had a goal and an assist for host Biola (2-7). SCC goalie Andrea Oleson had seven saves for the Vanguards (0-8).
Chapman 4, Occidental 2--Carey Wright had two assists to lead visiting Chapman (5-2-2).
Pepperdine 3, Cal State Fullerton 1--Amber Dickey scored a second-half goal for the Titans (1-5-1). Pepperdine is 5-3.
In Big West Conference women’s volleyball:
Hawaii 3, Cal State Fullerton 0--Angelica Ljungouist had 10 kills and nine blocks for visiting Hawaii (7-0), which won, 15-0, 15-6, 15-7. Jennifer Lipski had four kills for Fullerton (0-5).
In nonconference women’s volleyball:
UC Riverside 3, Southern California College 0--Genevie Wright had seven kills for SCC in a 15-8, 15-13, 15-8 loss.
