LOS ANGELES : Judge Rejects 2 Motions in King Civil Lawsuit
- Share via
In a brief hearing Monday, U.S. District Judge John G. Davies rejected two motions seeking to limit the liability of defendants in Rodney G. King’s lawsuit against the city of Los Angeles and the police officers who participated in his March 3, 1991, beating.
After the hearing, lawyers said the case looks increasingly as though it will go to trial because settlement talks between King and the city have broken off. Milton Grimes, King’s lawyer, said last week that the talks had been unproductive and that he was preparing for trial. Deputy City Atty. Don Vincent agreed.
The case is scheduled to go to trial March 22.
