ANAHEIM — A motorcycle police officer on his way to investigate a traffic accident was involved in one himself Friday evening when a driver making a U-turn struck him, police said.
Anaheim Sgt. Steve Walker, 42, was traveling in the 4300 block of East La Palma Avenue at 6:30 p.m. in the middle lane when a Cadillac in the slow lane made an illegal left U-turn, Sgt. Kirt Robertson said. Walker collided with it.
Walker was able to call Anaheim police dispatch on his radio and let them know he was injured.
Walker, a motorcycle sergeant since 1989, suffered a broken left foot, wrist and thumb. He was kept overnight at UCI Medical Center for observation.
