* * 1/2 Aaron Neville, “Grand Tour,” A&M.; It’s hard not to expect a lot from Neville. Confronted with a voice this angelic, you want him to take you straight to paradise with no boring side trips. This album has moments that don’t disappoint, ranging from a version of Leonard Cohen’s “Song of Bernadette”--tenderly performed with Linda Ronstadt--to the poignant title track, a George Jones oldie. Not grand overall, but satisfying.
New albums are rated on a scale of one star (poor), two stars (fair), three stars (good) and four stars (excellent).
