Memo to Pete Dalis: Take Early Retirement

An open letter to UCLA Athletic Director Pete Dalis:

I understand you invited men’s tennis coach Glen Bassett to retire because “ . . . we have not had the preeminence in tennis that we had previously. . . . “ It appears a few other athletic programs lack the preeminence of earlier years. Because no one informed you that excellence starts at the top, maybe you should take advantage of early retirement.

By the way, great use of the English language.
