TV Honors: NBC’s “Seinfeld” and the canceled series “I’ll Fly Away” were heavy winners in the first American Television Awards that were presented Sunday night in Santa Monica and were scheduled to have been broadcast Monday night on ABC. “I’ll Fly Away” took honors as best dramatic series, with Sam Waterson named lead actor and Regina Taylor lead actress. “Seinfeld” won awards for best situation comedy series and lead male performer Jerry Seinfeld, while Jason Alexander and Julia Louis-Dreyfus won for their supporting roles. Roseanne Arnold received best actress in a sitcom for ABC’s “Roseanne.” Other winners included a telefilm sweep for HBO with “Barbarians at the Gate” winning best telefilm, Holly Hunter winning best actress for “The Positively True Adventures of the Alleged Texas Cheerleader Murdering Mom” and actor James Woods best actor for “Citizen Cohn.”
