Disney to Acquire Miramax Film Corp.

BURBANK — Walt Disney Co. announced Friday that it plans to acquire Miramax Film Corp., the privately held distributor of such art-house classics as “The Crying Game” and “Sex, Lies and Videotape.”
Miramax will become an autonomous division of Disney’s distribution arm, Buena Vista Pictures.
Miramax founders Bob and Harvey Weinstein will continue running the company and its headquarters will remain in New York.
