A 51-year-old Oxnard man who died in his truck had suffered a fatal heart attack while driving, the coroner’s office said Tuesday.
John Frescas lost control of his pickup about 2:45 p.m. Monday while traveling north on Vineyard Avenue near Central Avenue in Ventura, authorities said.
Frescas, a delivery driver for Wilsen Bennett Co., an Oxnard floral transport service, was en route to a farm to pick up a load of flowers, a company spokesman said.
The vehicle ran off the road, scraped a power pole, ran over a fence and came to rest in a strawberry field, a California Highway Patrol spokeswoman said.
There were no other injuries in the accident, the spokeswoman said.
Frescas, who had worked at the company for about one year, is survived by his wife and two children.
