Malibu : A New Address for City Hall
Malibu city staffers got the go-ahead this week to start packing in preparation to move City Hall.
The City Council on Monday formally approved a five-year rental agreement for office space in the Malibu sheriff’s station in the Civic Center complex.
Assistant City Manager Mark Lorimer said preparations will begin immediately to move City Hall operations to the new location at 23555 Civic Center Way in June.
The Los Angeles County sheriff’s station became available after most of the station’s deputies and administrators were moved recently to the Lost Hills station in Calabasas. The Malibu station is part of a county complex that includes a municipal court and a county library.
About 16 city staffers, now housed a short distance away in the Malibu Professional Park building on Stuart Ranch Road, will make the move. The new quarters will contain the city’s administrative offices, as well as the Planning, Building and Safety, and Public Works departments.
The agreement with the county calls for the city to pay $7,875 per month for 4,500 square feet for the first year.
