ROUNDUP : Capistrano Valley Survives in Overtime

Second-seeded Capistrano Valley survived a second-half rally and needed overtime to defeat host Oxnard Channel Islands, 53-49, Saturday in a Southern Section Division I-AA girls’ basketball quarterfinal game.
Susan Scott and Jennifer Garrett each scored four points in the overtime for the visiting Cougars (23-3), who advanced to play Long Beach Millikan, a 66-52 winner over Victorville Victor Valley, in the semifinals Tuesday.
Scott finished with 18 points, Garrett had 14, and Angie White added 13 points. Mickie Liutau scored 13 points to lead Channel Islands (20-7), which trailed 30-13 at halftime, but outscored Capistrano Valley, 17-6,in the third quarter.
In Division II-A:
Ridgecrest Burroughs 64, Troy 41--Dinah Shah had 12 points and Janea Butler added 10 points for Troy, which finished 22-5.
In Division III-A:
Costa Mesa 63, Lompoc 48--Olivia DiCamilli had 28 points and 12 rebounds to lead top-seeded Costa Mesa (25-4). Heather Robinson had 10 points for the Mustangs.
Costa Mesa’s next opponent is Culver City, a 50-44 winner over Atascadero.
Rancho Alamitos 80, Monrovia 58--Trailing by one point after three quarters, Rancho Alamitos scored 32 fourth-quarter points. Akilah Rodgers had 11 of her 25 points in the fourth quarter for Rancho Alamitos (25-4). Rancho Alamitos will play La Canada in the semifinals.
In a Division V-AA quarterfinal:
Capistrano Valley Christian 51, Redlands Arrowhead Christian Academy 45--Ivana Kovacic had 14 points and 10 rebounds and Heidi Elliott had 12 points and 14 rebounds for visiting Capistrano Valley Christian (19-6), which advanced to Tuesday’s semifinals to play Pasadena Poly, a 42-28 winner over Brentwood.
