Gonzaga Hands Loyola Eighth Loss in a Row

SPOKANE, Wash. — Matt Stanford scored 25 points and Marc Armstead added 23 to lead Gonzaga to an 87-73 victory over Loyola Marymount in a West Coast Conference game Thursday night.
Loyola, 7-18 overall and 2-11 in the conference, lost its eighth game in a row, its longest losing streak since the 1986-87 season. The Lions have lost 11 of 12 games and have not won on the road since Dec. 30. They are tied with Portland for last place in the WCC.
Gonzaga (17-8, 9-4), 12-0 at home, was eliminated from the WCC title race. The Bulldogs trail Pepperdine by two games with one to play.
Rahim Harris scored 16 points for Loyola, which trailed, 41-36, at halftime. Brian McCloskey had 15.
