Winter Storm Problems

In the wake of a seven-year drought, one would hope that the city of Los Angeles would be excited beyond belief at the current onslaught of precipitation.

Instead, all we hear is how the sewers are currently overflowing, resulting in the dumping of partially treated sewage in the ocean, houses are sliding down hills, and most of the rainwater is running off into the Pacific.

I would think the second biggest U.S. city would be adept enough at handling rain so that sewage dumping could be avoided. As a new resident of Marina del Rey, not the most inexpensive place to live, I am not looking forward to arriving home to inhale the best this city has to offer.

I realize I have only been living in Los Angeles for three months, but how is a city which is so starved for water so inept at containing it when it arrives?
