An Oscar Foreshadowing?: Stephen Woolley (“The Crying Game”) was named producer of the year by the Producers Guild of America on Tuesday. He was competing against the same four producers nominated for this year’s best picture Oscar. For the past three years, the Producers Guild winner has gone on to win the top Academy Award. In the television category, creator-producers Joshua Brand and John Falsey and producers Ian Sander and David Chase won top honors for the defunct NBC series “I’ll Fly Away.” Brand and Falsey won last year for “Northern Exposure.” The awards will be handed out March 3.
