COMMUNITY COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Richardson Leads Saddleback to Victory in Golf

Scott Richardson shot par 72 to help Saddleback win a four-team Orange Empire Conference golf match Monday at Tijeras Creek Golf Course in Rancho Santa Margarita.
Saddleback finished at 380, Cuyamaca was second at 382, San Diego Mesa (395) third and Cypress (418) fourth.
Jason McDaniel shot a two-over 74 and Justin Boatman shot 75 for Saddleback, the defending conference champions.
In nonconference baseball:
Rancho Santiago 2, Cerritos 1--Derek Brown’s single drove in Tony Truel with what proved to be the winning run in the top of the fifth inning for Rancho Santiago (6-3). Jason Dietrich (2-0) allowed three hits and no runs in 6 1/3 innings for the victory. Ryan Filbeck pitched the final 2 2/3 innings, striking out three for his first save.
Cypress 9, Arizona State JV 7--Gary Manley had two hits and four runs batted in as Cypress won at Tempe. Greg Tippen hit his third home run, a two-run shot in the sixth, for Cypress (9-2). Aaron France had 10 strikeouts in 6 2/3 innings for the victory.
In nonconference softball:
Cypress 1, College of the Desert 0--Leigh Sager (2-1) pitched a four-hitter for host Cypress (7-2). Jennifer Johnson singled to open the seventh inning and later scored on an error.
Rio Hondo 5, Irvine Valley 3--Desiree Lesicko hit a two-run home run in the fifth and had a sacrifice fly in the sixth for host Irvine Valley (1-4).
Saddleback 7, San Bernardino Valley 1--Lucy Jacobs and Shelley Byrd each had two hits and two RBIs for visiting Saddleback (9-0). Pitcher Laura Kesterson earned her eighth victory without a loss for the Gauchos.
