About $26,000 worth of sports equipment, video equipment and student property was stolen from the gymnasium at Antelope Valley High School in Lancaster in a weekend burglary, Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies said Monday.
Sheriff’s Sgt. Bob Denham said the break-in was discovered Monday morning by school employees arriving at the campus. The number of burglars involved was not immediately known and no suspects were in custody, Denham said.
The incident was the latest in a string of troubles in recent weeks for the oldest campus in the Antelope Valley Union High School District. Other problems included the arrest of a student for allegedly threatening another student with a gun, and extensive graffiti problems.
