SPRING FEVER: Major league clubs were allowed to start spring training Friday, but the Angels waited until today to begin workouts at their new home, Tempe Diablo Stadium in Arizona. . . . The club, which used to train in Mesa, Ariz., and Palm Springs, now has a 15-year lease in the newly renovated facility. “We’re excited about it,” says Tempe Mayor Harry Mitchell. “They’re a class group.” The stadium, which holds 9,785, will be dedicated Saturday, with the first game against Oakland on March 7.
