THREE TREES FREE! The city of Anaheim has an offer for its residents not only to reduce energy use, but also to beautify the city. And it’s free. . . . The city will give those who qualify as many as three young trees for their yards. It requires adequate space in “shade” zones--the east, west, or south side of the house. Residents can choose from 40 different kinds of trees. “We know that urban areas are seven degrees hotter than rural areas,” says Maria Cover from the city’s tree project. “In three to five years, we hope to see some results.”
