Advanced Photonix Reports $393,000 Loss

Advanced Photonix Inc., a fledgling Camarillo maker of devices that convert light into electronic signals, reported a $393,000 fiscal third-quarter loss, compared with a year-earlier loss of $975,000.

The smaller loss in the latest quarter ended Dec. 31 came as Advanced Photonix’s revenue more than doubled, to $2.1 million from $1 million a year earlier.

The company’s loss for the first nine months of its fiscal year also narrowed, to $1.7 million from a $2.43-million loss in the comparable 1991 period, and its nine-month revenue soared to $5.59 million from $1.26 million.
