MISSION VIEJO : Bids Are Sought for Animal Shelter
- Share via
Bids on a proposed animal shelter were authorized last week by the City Council.
Eight firms have expressed interested in building the planned 32-kennel shelter, which city officials say will cost about $1 million.
The city purchased 37 acres of hillside terrain behind Saddleback College near Crown Valley and Marguerite Parkways for the project. About seven acres of the parcel, bought last September for $1 million, are usable for the shelter.
Plans call for a 2,800-square-foot main building and two outdoor, covered pavilions that will house the 32 kennels.
The city has reviewed statements from firms interested in the project. Final bids are due March 3. A decision on a builder will be made March 8.
City officials hope construction will be complete by August.
