ON ICE: Here’s a twisted scenario: Ice-T, having left the Time Warner fold following months of contentious give-and-take, signs with an independent label to distribute his “Home Invasion” album, and ultimately finds that company to be in turn distributed by . . . Time Warner-owned WEA.
Could happen. Ice-T has signed a distribution deal with Priority Records, which has ties to Thorn-EMI’s CEMA wing. But that deal expires in nine months and there are rumors that Priority is interested in hooking up with WEA.
Priority president Bryan Turner won’t comment on a possible WEA move, but said there’s no chance of another WEA/Ice-T face-off because the Ice-T product would be exempted from any WEA pact.
