Readers Were Moved by Arthur Ashe, and by Downey’s Tribute

Mike Downey, you made me cry.
I was enjoying my Sunday morning coffee and eggs and L.A. Times. Then I read your remarkable tribute to Arthur Ashe. I was OK until I got down to the end, when condemned South African poet Matters, on his way to jail, touches Arthur and says, “Go well, brother, go well.”
An indelible farewell to any great warrior or treasured friend.
