Labor leader Giorgio Benvenuto was picked to head Italy’s Socialist Party, succeeding onetime Prime Minister Bettino Craxi, who stepped down amid allegations he was involved in a corruption scandal. Giovanni Conso, a justice on Italy’s Constitutional Court, was sworn in as justice minister to succeed Claudio Martelli.
