COMMUNITY COLLEGE BASEBALL ROUNDUP : Wood Pitches Three-Hitter for Rancho Santiago

Matt Wood pitched a three-hitter to help Rancho Santiago to a 3-1 victory over Long Beach in the championship game of the Dons’ Lidlifter tournament Sunday in Santa Ana.
Wood (1-0) struck out five and walked two. Long Beach scored in the fifth to take a 1-0 lead but Rancho Santiago (3-0) came back with two in the sixth. Steve Thobe had a double and his first home run of the season for Rancho Santiago. Long Beach is 1-2.
In the Palomar tournament:
Saddleback 10, Palomar 3--Dennis Crine pitched a three-hitter with six strikeouts for the Gauchos (2-1) in the title game. Palomar had beaten Saddleback, 6-3, earlier Sunday to force a second game.
Ted Wilkes had a three-run home run in the sixth to give Saddleback a 9-3 lead. Cade Gaspar had three hits and Wade Jackson, Neil Garcia and Wilkes had two hits each for Saddleback.
In the Fullerton Cerritos tournament:
Fullerton 4, Riverside 3--Darian Slayton’s two-run single in the seventh was the game-winner for the Hornets at Fullerton. The teams meet again today at 1 at Fullerton for the tournament championship.
Mickey Fortie had two doubles and Ryan Roskelly added another for Fullerton (3-0).
In the College of the Desert tournament:
Cypress 17, Orange Coast 12--Kevin Clark had four hits, including a grand slam, and six runs batted in for Cypress (2-1) in a semifinal game. Corey Dean Yeager had four hits and three RBIs and Gary Manley had three hits and two RBIs for Cypress.
Orange Coast (1-2) scored five run in the fourth to take a 12-10 lead, but Cypress scored five in the seventh and two more in the eighth.
