VENTURA : Tests Find Water Now Safe to Drink

The city of Ventura on Monday lifted an order advising residents near Grant Park to boil drinking water because of a break last week in a water main.
Testing of water samples over the weekend showed that the water is safe to drink, city officials said. The main near Kalorama Drive north of Tioga Drive was repaired Saturday.
“It turns out there was never any contamination,” said city spokeswoman Carol Green. “But it always pays to be cautious.”
About 100 homes were affected when the water main broke Friday, she said. Residents should allow their water to run freely when it is turned back on if it looks cloudy, officials said. The discoloration could be due to air in the pipes or minerals knocked loose by the water pressure but is not harmful, officials said.
