Sega Settles Case for $43 Million: Video game vendor Sega Enterprises has agreed to pay an individual inventor $43 million for intentionally infringing on a video display patent. Last month, a federal court jury in Los Angeles ordered Sega to pay $33 million to the inventor, Jan R. Coyle. Sega settled on a higher amount because of the threat of a court injunction against the sale of Sega game systems, and because the jury’s finding of intentional infringement could have led to the damages being trebled.
