The author of “Final Exit,” a best-selling suicide manual for the terminally ill, will speak at the Leisure World retirement community on Sunday.
Author Derek Humphry, whose book has sold more than 500,000 copies since its publication last May, will talk about public response to the book and the future of the right-to-die movement.
The talk will be at Leisure World’s Clubhouse 1 at 10 a.m.
Humphry is also the founder of the 47,000-member Hemlock Society, a national organization which seeks to legalize physician-assisted suicide.
Caroline Youngquist, a Hemlock Society member and a resident of Leisure World, said Humphry was invited to speak at Leisure World about his book because “it is informative and . . . addresses issues that we all face as senior citizens.”
