A 26-year-old Oxnard man and his 8-year-old passenger suffered major injuries Saturday afternoon when they were thrown from the motorcycle they were riding, authorities said.
Kenneth Henschel, the driver of the motorcycle, was in fair condition and Michael Meyers-Sweeney, his passenger, was in critical condition at St. John’s Regional Medical Center, the nursing supervisor said.
Henschel was riding his motorcycle at about 50 m.p.h. west on Helsam Avenue near Citrus Street in Oxnard, at about 12:05 p.m., when the motorcycle collided with a car that was making a U-turn, the California Highway Patrol said.
Rosita Menchaca, 31, of Oxnard was going east on Helsam and did not see the motorcycle, the Highway Patrol said.
Menchaca suffered minor injuries and was not cited.
