In the first round of the Calvary Chapel Hoop Hysteria boys’ tournament:
Brethren Christian 55, Leffingwell Christian 31--Chiron Hart had 18 points for Brethren Christian.
Calvary Chapel 84, Twin Pines 32--John O’Brien had 31 points and 19 rebounds for Calvary Chapel (2-0). David Hesterly added 20 points for Calvary Chapel.
In a first-round game of the Vista boys’ tournament:
El Modena 69, Perris 64--Aaron Aguilera scored 18 points and Mario Perez 13, including two free throws with 10 seconds left, as the Vanguards (4-0) overcame 26 turnovers to remain undefeated.
In the El Dorado Co-Ed Classic boys’ tournament:
Sunny Hills 55, Canyon Country Canyon 48--Terry Mann scored 28 points for Sunny Hills (5-0), which trailed 20-19 at halftime.
In the La Quinta Classic boys’ tournament:
Corona del Mar 49, Cypress 48--Doug Hesse scored 15 points and had nine rebounds to lead the Sea Kings (4-2). Jason Clark added 12 for Corona del Mar, which meets the Savanna-La Quinta winner in Friday’s championship game. Savanna and La Quinta play in the other semifinal at 8 tonight.
In nonleague boys’ basketball:
Valencia 70, La Habra 60 (OT)--Mike Rowland made one of two free throws for La Habra to send the game into overtime. Bill Eubanks scored 18 points for Valencia (3-1), which outscored the Highlanders 14-4 in overtime.
Santa Margarita 84, Santa Ana 42--Dan Bathey and Mike Carpenter each had 25 points for visiting Santa Margarita (5-1). Santa Ana scored the first six points of the second quarter but Santa Margarita finished the quarter with a 19-4 run.
Laguna Beach 85, San Clemente 70--Tom Ravensberg scored 18 points and Taylor Butcher added 16 for the Artists (2-1) at Laguna Beach.
Buena Park 80, Bellflower 67--Bryan Baylor had 18 points and 10 and Angel Barios scored 16 points in his first game of the season after returning from football as the Coyotes improved to 3-1 despite missing 28 of 52 free throws.
Woodbridge 57, Canyon 45--Todd Loewe had 21 points and Ryan Sunderman 11 points and 10 rebounds for the Warriors (3-0).
In Brea-Olinda girls’ tournament:
Mission Hills Alemany 47, Tustin 42--Shari Needham had 24 points and 16 rebounds for Tustin (2-3) in a second-round loss. Tustin played without Christine Garner, who was playing in a club volleyball match.
Brea-Olinda 66, El Modena 29--Sarah Beckley scored 19 points and Jody Anton added 12 for the Ladycats (6-0) in the second-round victory.
In the El Dorado Co-Ed Classic girls’ tournament:
El Dorado 48, El Toro 34--Erin Vessey had 14 points and 13 rebounds, Jody Caruso had 12 points and 13 rebounds and Briana Yoshina had 12 points for El Dorado (4-0).
In nonleague girls’ basketball:
Canyon 61, Sonora 45--Erin Waggoner had 29 points and seven steals and Rona Rathod had seven points, 14 rebounds and six blocks for Canyon (4-1).
