North Torrance Grad Named Player of Year

Lenee Hill of Azusa Pacific University has been selected women’s volleyball player of the year by the National Assn. of Intercollegiate Athletics.
Hill, a 5-foot-10 middle hitter who graduated in 1987 from North Torrance High, helped lead Azusa Pacific to a 34-8 record.
The Cougars were eliminated by Indiana-Purdue (Indianapolis), 7-15, 15-6, 13-15, 15-13, 15-9, Friday in the NAIA national tournament at Hays, Kan. Azusa Pacific defeated Seton Hill, Northern Montana, Montevallo (Ala.) and Presbyterian (S.C.) to reach the quarterfinals.
Hill transferred to Azusa Pacific from the University of Florida. She finished the season with 606 kills.
