The Perfect Stocking Stuffer . . .
Delight cooks on your Christmas list with a nutmeg grater wrapped with some whole nutmeg seeds; the combined cost is less than $6.
Nutmeg graters, tools small enough to fit into a stocking, grate whole nutmeg seed into a coarse, fragrant powder. All nutmeg graters are slightly curved with a fine rasp; the best-designed store the whole nutmeg that you’re using in a container attached to the back of the grater. The close-fitting cover keeps the oval nutmeg in place.
Once the nutmeg has been ground down to a small piece, discard it or grate at great peril to your fingernails. There’s always a little powder left on the grater, so store it (and extra nutmeg) in a small plastic bag. Little clean-up is required after each use, and there’s no mess in the cupboard.
