House Passes Ban on ‘Junk’ Calls: The House passed compromise legislation outlawing the use of automated telephone and facsimile equipment to send unsolicited advertisements into homes. The compromise, which combines separate versions passed earlier by the House and Senate, was approved on a voice vote. The Senate was expected to act on the legislation before Congress adjourns today.
