Forward From Texas Signs With UC Irvine

Joe Hannon, a 6-foot-8, 205-pound forward from Canada College in Redwood City said Tuesday he has signed a letter of intent to play basketball at UC Irvine next season.

Hannon, from San Antonio, Tex., played a season at Casper (Wyo.) College, before transferring and sitting out last season.

“I think it’s a good situation for me,” Hannon said. “This is a school on the rise.”

Hannon joins an incoming class that includes forward Shaun Battle of San Bernardino Cajon High School, center Dee Boyer of Saddleback College and guard Todd Whitehead of Los Angeles Fremont High.
