Belgian Coal Miners Clash With Police; 28 Injured

BRUSSELS — Belgian miners pelted riot police with stones, bottles and ball bearings in Brussels on Monday, injuring 27 officers and a free-lance photographer.
More than 1,000 officers confronted an estimated 1,200 out-of-work coal miners from the Flemish region of Limbourg who were demonstrating after recent mine closings, a police spokesman said.
