GARDEN GROVE — A 13-year-old boy and his 15-year-old sister were wounded Monday night in a drive-by shooting at a shopping center parking lot, police said.
The victims, whose names were not available, were taken to a local hospital, Garden Grove Police Lt. John Woods said. The boy was shot in the leg, and a bullet grazed his sister’s head, Woods said.
Shortly after 8 p.m., the victims’ father was backing out of a shopping center parking lot at McFadden Avenue and Ward Street when a blue compact car drove by and someone in the car opened fire, Woods said. The car sped away and the gunmen remained at large.
An investigation is continuing, but police do not think the shooting was gang-related, Woods said.
“It appeared (the victims) were just in the wrong place at the wrong time.”
