A 31-year-old Pacoima man on parole for manslaughter led Simi Valley police and Ventura County Sheriff’s deputies on a high-speed chase along the Simi Valley Freeway Monday morning that ended shortly after the suspect crashed into two police cars, authorities said.
Police spotted a suspect at 10:54 p.m. in the 2600 block of Wanda Drive entering a car suspected of being stolen and used in two earlier burglary attempts, Simi Valley Sgt. Fred James said.
The man, who fled at speeds up to 100 m.p.h., was caught 10 minutes later near Condor Drive in Moorpark, James said.
Gilbert Cole was arrested in connection with the incident. Neither Cole nor two officers were injured in the accidents.
James said Cole was on parole for voluntary manslaughter in a gang-related shooting in the San Fernando Valley. He was booked into Ventura County Jail on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, possessing a stolen vehicle, burglary, evading arrest and two counts each of attempted burglary and hit-and-run.
