Physicians’ Pay

The physicians and surgeons encountered since I came to Escondido appear, overall, a cut above what cities of this size ordinarily attract, being a “one hospital town.” These are the physicians and surgeons who have helped Palomar develop into a hospital I would feel comfortable being admitted to.
These physicians and surgeons helped to develop Palomar by donating much of their time, energy and talent to bettering Palomar’s credibility in the community.
To pay wages for an orthopedic surgeon ($520 over a 24-hour period averages to $21 per hour) on a scale that is lower than a union electrician seems ludicrous.
Being the widow of a physician and working in the field for many years makes me very aware of the sacrifices and dedication most physicians give to their community and patients. They deserve some consideration for the devotion to “the God they choose to serve.”
