Rio Mesa 21, Santa Barbara 14--Swanson Nunnery (five catches, 123 yards) caught an 81-yard scoring pass from Andy Contreras early in the fourth quarter to give Rio Mesa a 21-7 lead at Santa Barbara. The touchdown came three plays after Santa Barbara quarterback Dustin Spencer fumbled at the 12-yard line. Stan Monroy recovered the fumble.
With the score tied, 7-7, Gordy Abellera (14 carries, 122 yards) scored on a three-yard run for Rio Mesa (5-2, 2-2) to cap the opening drive of the third quarter. Santa Barbara (2-5, 1-3) opened the scoring on a four-yard run by Spencer (15 carries, 122 yards) in the second quarter. Rio Mesa countered later in the quarter with a two-yard scoring pass from Contreras to Josh Severn. The Dons committed three turnovers in the fourth quarter.
