Jenkins Helps Dana Hills Upset Irvine

IRVINE — Marcus Jenkins rushed for 122 yards and scored two touchdowns to lead Dana Hills to 27-23 upset of Irvine in a South Coast League game Friday night at Irvine High School.
Jenkins also had two interceptions for the Dolphins (4-1-2, 1-1). Irvine, the seventh-ranked team in Orange County, is to 5-2, 1-1.
Irvine took a 3-0 lead on a 43-yard field goal by Dave Bilek with 4 minutes 25 seconds left in the first quarter.
Dana Hills later drove 80 yards for a score as Jenkins ran in from the one-yard line to make the score 6-3 with 9:12 left in the half. A 56-yard pas from Scott Covington to Ryan Crane keyed the drive.
After an interception by Jenkins, Dana Hills drove 74 yards for a touchdown. Jenkins ran in from the seven for a 13-3 lead.
Dana Hills’ J.P. Chance recovered a fumble of the second-half kickoff at the Irvine 23. Rob Crummel capped the drive with a 33-yard field goal to give the Dolphins a 16-3 lead.
But Irvine struck back as Jon Peck caught a 29-yard touchdown pass from Jason Minici to make it 16-10 with 4:02 left in the third quarter.
Dana Hills scored the key touchdown early in the fourth quarter after a fumble recovery by Nick Nosek at the Irvine 30.
