Four Scores in Second Half Lift Marina

HUNTINGTON BEACH — Marina’s offense scored four second-half touchdowns, and its defense played four strong quarters in a 35-6 rout of Ocean View in a Sunset League game Friday night.
Leading, 6-0, at the half on two Donny McMahan field goals, the Vikings took the second-half kick and marched the football 48 yards on our plays, capping the drive with a 19-yard John Marvos touchdown run. Marina faked the kick and scored on a reverse pass from David Anderson to Robert Fiesler.
The Vikings broke open the game in the fourth quarter. After Craig Clough scored on a one-yard run, Ocean View roughed McMahan on a successful PAT. This allowed the Vikings to kick from the Seahawk 45. They attempted and recovered an onside kick at the 15. Four plays later Chris Della Croce scored an a 13-yard keeper.
Tom Sullivan, Marina back-up quarterback, closed the Viking scoring with a 17-yard run with 1:36 to play. Marina (4-3, 3-1 in league) was able to keep the Seahawks (1-6, 0-3) out of the end zone until Eric Hatfield scored on a six-yard run with 37 seconds remaining in the game. The score was set up by a 68-yard Albert Fanoga pass to Seahawk receiver Chris Dion.
