In Empire League girls’ volleyball:
Cypress 3, Loara 2--Misty Hartung tied the Cypress record for kills in a match with 29 to lead the Centurions (3-4, 1-0).
In South Coast League girls’ tennis:
Irvine 9, El Toro 9 (Irvine wins on games, 87-69)--Milvia Schinaia swept at No. 1 singles, 6-0, 6-0, 6-1, for the Vaqueros, and Jeanne Lu won two sets at No. 2 singles for Irvine (6-0, 1-0).
In Angelus league girls’ tennis:
Rosary 9, Mater Dei 9 (Rosary wins on games, 76-69)--Although no Rosary singles player or doubles team swept, the host’s depth showed at the Fullerton Tennis Center. Mater Dei’s Erica Asmuss swept at No. 1 singles, 6-1, 6-0, 6-1. Mater Dei is 6-2, 1-1. Rosary is 7-3-1, 2-0.
In Century League girls’ tennis:
Foothill 15, Orange 3--Foothill’s No. 1 singles player, Amanda Parsons, improved to 36-0 for the season with three victories. Foothill is 8-4, 3-0.
In Empire League girls’ tennis:
Katella 11, Esperanza 7--Debbie Vonusa swept at No. 1 singles, and Lisa Salyer and Teresa Ho swept at No. 1 doubles for Katella (2-1 in league).
In Olympic League girls’ tennis:
Orange Lutheran 13, Connelly 5--Lori Wright swept at No. 1 singles, 6-2, 6-0, 6-1, for host Orange Lutheran (4-4, 1-0) at the Anaheim Tennis Center. Connelly is 2-7, 0-1.
In Orange League girls’ tennis:
Savanna 11, Brea-Olinda 7--Eva Kristofik and Marianna Kristofik teamed to sweep at No. 3 doubles, 6-2, 6-3, 6-2, for the Rebels. Dung Lam and Jenna Yann also swept for Savanna (10-2, 3-0) at No. 1 doubles. Brea’s Rachel Buenviaje swept at No. 1 singles, 7-6, 6-0, 6-0.
In Pacific Coast League girls’ tennis:
Laguna Beach 10, Laguna Hills 8--Winsom Falcone and Ashley Smith won two sets each in singles for the Artists (7-4, 1-1). Laguna Hills’ Noriko Hopkins swept at No. 1 singles, 6-3, 6-1, 6-1.
In South Coast League girls’ tennis:
Capistrano Valley 15, Mission Viejo 3--In the league opener for both teams, Alison Light, Lisa Shulga and Maria Nguyen swept their singles matches for host Capistrano Valley (7-1, 1-0).
In Sunset League girls’ tennis:
Westminster 12, Ocean View 6--Erica Guivas and Gina Tran won, 7-5, 6-0, 6-2, at No. 1 singles to lead a Westminster doubles sweep. Westminster is 7-4-1, 2-3.
Fountain Valley 11, Huntington Beach 7--Michelle Berkowitz swept in singles, 6-0, 6-0, 6-0, to raise her record to 28-2 for the season for visiting Fountain Valley (6-4, 4-1).
