Quartz Hill 20, San Gorgonio 7--Running back Erik Thomas shouldered the load of the Rebels’ offense, carrying the ball 31 times for 134 yards and two touchdowns as host Quartz Hill (2-2) defeated San Gorgonio (3-1).
The offense was in high gear as a pair of touchdown runs by Thomas staked Quartz Hill to a 14-0 second-quarter lead. The senior back capped the opening drive by scoring on a two-yard run. He added a 14-yard touchdown run early in the second quarter.
Quarterback Jake Haro connected with receiver Doug Ybarra with 41 seconds left in the second quarter to close out the Rebels’ scoring.
Thomas, who gained 101 yards in the first half, was limited to 33 second-half yards. The Rebels also had to endure three fumbles by Thomas and one interception.
