Selling Zoo Animals

Regarding your editorial, pardon me if I don’t fall for San Diego Zoological Society’s “we didn’t know” routine again. Its mea culpa sounded somewhat suspect a few years ago when the San Diego Zoo/Wild Animal Park was investigated on “60 Minutes” and found to be guilty of selling surplus zoo animals to a well-known trader who specialized in supplying animals to game ranches.
This latest “we should have know better” statement from those in charge of the animal-selling program is an insult to the public’s intelligence.
Apparently the zoo did not learn a thing after the “60 Minutes” embarrassment.
