2 Dead Following Separate Attacks

San Diego authorities are investigating the killings of two people over the weekend in unrelated incidents.
At midnight Saturday, a 19-year-old Latino woman was shot to death in a suspected robbery as she and a companion sat in a car in the parking lot of a hotel on East Mission Bay Drive, San Diego police said.
Toni Mayara Alvarado was shot in the head and hand by a group of youths who approached the car, police said. She was pronounced dead after being driven to Mercy Hospital.
At 2 a.m. Saturday, a 31-year-old Linda Vista man was stabbed several times during a fight that broke out in the 6900 block of Linda Vista Road.
Derrick Pritchett was pronounced dead at Sharp Memorial Hospital, according to a county medical examiner’s office spokesman.
Police later arrested Phillip Carter, 19, in the incident.
