From Times Staff and Wire Reports
A suspect in the deaths of five students in Gainesville, Fla., last year went on trial on charges of holding up a Tampa, Fla., grocery. Lawyers for Danny Harold Rolling, 37, say the charges result from a case of mistaken identity. Assistant State Atty. Cass Castillo said that the state has a witness who saw the gunman unmasked and that analyses of hair left on the mask and fingerprints on the getaway car point to Rolling. If convicted of the robbery and a related assault, Rolling could be sentenced to life in prison.
