Three men suspected of smashing a jewelry store window Tuesday and taking $23,000 in watches were arrested moments after the crime, a Sheriff’s Department spokesman said.
Dewayne Anthony Reed, 30, John Francis Iverson, 28, and Anthony Tyron Grady, 23, all of Los Angeles, were arrested about 3 a.m. after the break-in at the 14 Karat Gold Jewelry Mart in a shopping plaza on Doheny Park Road, Lt. Richard Olson said.
A witness told deputies that three men had broken the window and fled in two cars.
Deputies later stopped a 1973 Dodge van which was headed north on Interstate 5 just north of the El Toro Road intersection. The second car, a late-model station wagon, was stopped by deputies on the El Toro Road off-ramp on Interestate 5, Olson said.
Olson said the stolen watches were found in the station wagon.
All three suspects were arrested without incident and taken to Orange County Jail. They were scheduled for arraignment today, Olson said.
