Nation IN BRIEF : NATIONWIDE : Poll Finds Quayle a Liability on Ticket

Dan Quayle is likely to be a liability rather than an asset to President Bush if he runs for reelection in 1992, a poll by the Gallup Organization found. The poll indicates that Quayle’s image has improved very little during his tenure as vice president. Although 57% find Quayle likable, only 40% think he is fit to be President, and 54% think he is not qualified. A majority, 52%, said it hopes Quayle will not be on the GOP ticket. However, Gallup said, few people let a running mate sway their choice of presidential candidates.
