Rupert Murdoch has added chairman to his titles at News Corp., the Sydney, Australia-based multinational media company of which he already is the chief executive and controlling shareholder.
Murdoch replaces Richard Searby, chairman since 1981, who retired to become News Corp.’s non-executive deputy chairman.
Murdoch’s family owns 45% of News Corp. The company’s U.S. holdings include TV Guide magazine, the 20th Century Fox film studio, the Fox broadcasting network, several TV stations and two newspapers.
