SWIMMING NATIONAL MEET : Jorgensen Wins Third Gold Medal

FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla. — Lars Jorgensen, a member of the 1988 U.S. Olympic team, won his third gold medal at the National Swimming Championships by winning the 1,500-meter freestyle in 15 minutes 22.75 seconds Friday.
Jorgensen, of San Diego, also won the 800-meter freestyle on Monday and the 400-meter freestyle on Wednesday. Despite Jorgensen’s three invididual titles, high-point honors in the meet went to Stanford teammates Trip Zedlitz of Oklahoma City and Derek Weatherford, of Ft. Myers, Fla.
Zedlitz won the men’s 200-meter individual medley in 2:02.81, and Weatherford was fifth. They tied with 70 points.
