Faria Wins Speedway’s Scratch Main Event

COSTA MESA —  Mike Faria of Colton won the four-lap scratch main event in the weekly speedway motorcycle racing program Friday at the Orange County Fairgrounds.

Steve Lucero, Scott Brant and Gary Hicks--all of Riverside--finished second, third and fourth, respectively.

Charlie Venegas of Costa Mesa won the eight-lap handicap main event. Alan Christian of Murrieta was second, Hicks third and Louis Kossuth of Brea fourth. Phil Collins of Costa Mesa finished fifth, Brant sixth, Russ Wagner of Valencia seventh and Pat Hawley of Huntington Beach eighth.
